Every so often, a project comes along that is so technically intriguing I have to prioritize the art above all else. This large-scale piece—a delicate fine line snake interwoven with peonies—was one of those sessions. While a project of this size is a major undertaking, I approached this as a deep dive into anatomical flow. I wanted to see exactly how the serpent's coils could wrap and breathe with the body’s natural movement, specifically focusing on how the soft petals of the peonies could anchor the composition.
The design process was about finding the perfect balance between the "weight" of the florals and the "tension" of the linework. By focusing on the movement of the client's muscles and joints, we created a piece that doesn't just sit on the skin, but lives within it. It was an incredible learning experience in fine-line precision and large-scale placement, and I’m stoked with how the final piece enhances the client's natural silhouette.
